Flower meaningsFlowers are meant for all occasions – birthday, anniversary, new born baby, romance, sympathy, get well, Easter, funeral, sympathy and just to say thank you. When words are unable to adequately convey your emotions flowers can portray the message and express feelings on your behalf. Whilst it is generally believed the practice of assigning meanings to flowers began in Turkey during the seventeenth century it was the Victorians who popularised giving meanings to different flowers. During this period many books were published giving the meanings of flowers and these were carefully studied to select appropriate bouquets for all occasions. Today when giving the gift of flowers, people tend to personalise the experience by offering the types and/or colours that carry a significant meaning to the person or occasion.
